Shelving Rock
–Emily Vincent & Erik Zantopp, Two Rock Ranch Lamb Jam Series, Berne, NY
Stephen Iachetta, Breeze Verdant, and Annie Landenberger play the Upstate New York area as Shelving Rock. Offering music for happy feet, Iachetta, “the Shaker fiddler” and Verdant, “a folker with a rock and roll heart,” have performed together since 2003 finding themselves at farmers’ markets, fairs and festivals, brew pubs, special events, and –opening for Natalie Merchant at a concert she gave to benefit the Shaker Heritage Society in Colonie, NY.The Schenectady Gazette wrote that that opener for Merchant—a set of Verdant’s originals– “nicely balanced the yang of Stephen Iachetta’s robust violin with the yin of T. Breeze Verdant’s laid-back strumming and singing; zippy instrumentals with tender vocal numbers.”
Iachetta on mandolin and vintage electric violin and Verdant on guitar, vocals and stomp box have been joined since 2017 by Annie Landenberger on vocals and percussion –all playing an eclectic range of tunes honing sweet harmonies, driving rhythms and several Verdant originals.
Iachetta’s sound is nuanced and versatile, Verdant has a half a century of composing and playing rock/folk under his belt while Landenberger has performed folk to jazz and musicals.
About the trio it’s been said, “you never know what to expect next” from this well-blended, upbeat group. Shelving Rock is available to play in any venue—outdoors and easy-going to restaurant formal and private parties. We provide our own sound system and offer PR support.
